1 LeBaron and Meredith rotated at QB for every play of the Week 5 game against the Eagles.
2 Coach Tom Landry couldn’t decide between Morton and Staubach and so rotated starting QBs every game.
3 Landry decided to rotate Morton and Staubach every play of the Week 7 game against the Bears. Morton started every drive.
4 Staubach came in as relief and led a comeback from 28-13 down in the 4th quarter of the NFC Divisional game against the 49ers.
5 White crossed the picket line four days before the first replacement game, but did not play in that game and threw only 4 passes in the second.

1 The Giants alternated QBs throughout the games.
2 Conerly typically came in as relief for Heinrich midway through games; coach Jim Lee Howell’s theory was that Heinrich got team off to a fast start during which Conerly could observe opposing defense’s scheme from sidelines.
3 Guglielmi lost 31-0 in his only start and was traded to the 49ers the next week. He refused to report, leaving him one career game short of his NFL pension. (After being waived by the Giants, Guglielmi signed with the Eagles.)
4 Morton was the only Giant booed during introductions in the first game played at Giants Stadium.
5 Simms would have been the starter going into 1982, but tore his right knee in preseason. Brunner was named the starter for 1983; Simms asked for a trade, but none came. Simms’ bad luck continued when he dislocated his right thumb in relief of Brunner in Week 6.
6 Hostetler’s 1990 Giants won the Super Bowl. Coach Bill Parcells quit in March; new coach Ray Handley named Hostetler the starter for 1991 during training camp.
7 Manning was drafted by the San Diego Chargers despite his publicly-known displeasure with that franchise. The Giants drafted Philip Rivers and both teams immediately executed a trade.
8 Manning rejected McAdoo’s original plan under which Manning would start to preserve his streak and then would be replaced at halftime.
